History

INC Research has a deep-rooted history of therapeutic expertise and technological innovation. Founded more than two decades ago as an academic research organization focused on CNS research, we've translated that expertise into a global organization with the added specialties of cardiovascular, endocrinology, immunology, infectious diseases, oncology, pediatrics, respiratory and women’s health, as well as full data services and regulatory capabilities.

2011

INC Research Acquires Kendle International Create a New Force in Global Drug Development Outsourcing

Uniting these two leading CROs strengthens INC Research’s global scale, expands therapeutic expertise and offers new levels of operational excellence. The breadth and depth of the staff solidifies the company’s geographical scope in Latin America and Asia, as well as Europe, the Middle East and Africa and better position the CRO to handle large-scale global trials and commit staff to regional or functional service projects.

INC Research Strengthens Strategic and Regulatory Consulting Group

In January 2011, INC Research acquires AVOS Life Sciences. The new division known as AVOS Consulting delivers strategic, operational and financial analysis to help life sciences companies successfully compete in an increasingly challenging global environment. The division also supports the company’s Alliance Partnerships program.


2010

INC Research is Acquired by Avista Capital Partners and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan

Avista Capital Partners, a leading private equity firm, and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, through its private investor department, Teachers’ Private Capital, acquires INC Research, Inc. from an investor group led by Crosspoint Venture Partners and Adams Street Partners.


2009

INC Research Expands Global Footprint and Therapeutic Expertise

On July 1, 2009, INC Research announces it has completed the acquisition of the Phase II-IV operations (Global Clinical Development) of MDS Pharma Services, a business unit of MDS Inc. This acquisition deepens INC Research's therapeutic expertise to include leadership in vaccine, respiratory, cardiovascular and endocrinology clinical research, and extends its global presence in emerging markets including South America, Asia Pacific and Africa.


2007

INC Research Expands Global Reach to India

In March of 2007, INC Research announces that they have entered into a 50:50 equity stake joint venture to form INC GVK BIO Private Limited. The joint venture gives INC Research the capability to run full service, Phase I-IV clinical trials in India for its pharma and biotech customers, utilizing clinical research resources at GVK that are fully dedicated to INC GVK Bio India projects.

INC Research Expands Infectious Disease Capabilities

In April of 2007, INC Research announces the strategic acquisition of Advanced Biologics to strengthen its Infectious Disease practice. Advanced Biologics is a full-service contract research organization (CRO) specializing in full-service clinical development to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries worldwide.
 

2006

INC Research Expands Late Phase Trial Expertise

On September 14, INC Research acquires Pharmaceutical Resource Corporation (PRC), a Philadelphia-based contract research organization specializing in adult and pediatric trials in phases IIIBb and IV. INC Research acquires a team with robust late phase study experience and strong pharmacovigilance and drug safety expertise. In addition, the company adds another full service facility and second data hub in North America.


2005

INC Research Launches QuickStart®

In 2005, INC Research implements QuickStart, a unique process for speeding study start up and ensuring a sound foundation early on for project implementation and execution. Today, QuickStart has been implemented as step two in the Trusted Process.

INC Research Expands Oncology and European Expertise

In December, INC Research announces the acquisition of NDDO Oncology, BV, a global CRO known as a leader in the field of anticancer drug development, increasing the depth of the company's therapeutic and European expertise.


2002

INC Research Europe 

INC Research extends its global capabilities in November of this year with the acquisition of a European CRO, Vujaklija, which was founded in 1989 as one of the first CROs in Central and Eastern Europe. With the acquisition of its European counterpart, INC Research broadens its global reach to 32 countries and 17 offices worldwide.


2001

INC Research Expands Therapeutic Areas

Early in the year, INC Research announces the formation of INC Pediatrics and in August, launches its Oncology division. Recognizing the need for a comprehensive data management solution that would provide flexibility and integration, INC Research launches DataSpectrum, a stand-alone data services company. DataSpectrum provides full data and biostatistical services to CNS and oncology projects, as well as to companies working across all therapeutic areas.
 

1998

INC Research Established

INC Research emerges when NTC and Integrated Neuroscience Consortium (INC), a CNS-focused site management organization, join forces. INC Research develops an exclusive national network of private practice neurology, psychiatry and pain centers, all experienced in conducting CNS research studies, and develops an extensive investigator database of CNS site.


1996

NTC Becomes a First Adopter of Oracle Clinical

NTC plays a major role in the co-development of Oracle 's data clarification forms subsystem, as well as a CRF tracking module.


1991

The Neuroclinical Trials Center (NTC) Chartered

The BIRP staff becomes part of the NTC. From 1991 through 1998, NTC staff participate in more than 40 global CNS clinical trials involving 20,000 patients.


1985

Developing CNS Expertise

Key CNS programs at University of Virginia are consolidated into the Brain Injury Research Program (BIRP), which forms the roots of INC Research. Throughout the 1980s, the University of Virginia at Charlottesville was the site of several pivotal head injury and cerebrovascular studies.
